You can't read Malayalam text properly if you haven't installed any Malayalam fonts in your computer. Find below a link to one of the best Malayalam Unicode fonts called 'Koumudi'. Installing a font is very very easy. Please follow the steps below.
1. Click HERE to download the Kaumudi font file and save it to your computer.
2. Copy and Paste this file to the FONTS directory.
Where is this 'Fonts' directory? - Click START and then RUN. Type FONTS and press ENTER
3. Once you have copied and pasted the file into fonts directory, you are almost done!
4. Now if you are using Google Chrome browser; please follow the instructions given below,
a) Click on the Menu button (which known as wrench button previously) and select the "Settings".
b) Now open the "Show advance settings" link and scroll down for the "Web content setting".
c) There is the "Customize fonts" at the right side of the Web content and the Fonts and encoding window will popup.
d) In this "Fonts and encoding page", change "Sens-serif font" to "Kaumudi" and set "Unicode (UTF-8)" for "Encoding" at the bottom of this page and OK it. It is not necessary to make changes on other fonts, if they are selected as Arial or types of font which is using widely on the internet.
